The Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve is a 10 hectare reserve featuring a freshwater lagoon and forested acreage on the Sunshine Coast.  It is home to an abundant variety of wildlife and features the Iris Griffith Interpretive Centre, our main outreach centre for the Society.

The purpose of the Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve Society is to:

  • Preserve and enhance the natural habitat and wildlife of the Ruby Lake Lagoon;
  • Facilitate public education through environmental programs, events, & eco-tourism at the Iris Griffith Interpretive Centre;
  • Assist in monitoring the ecological health of the Sunshine Coast region;
  • Conduct a variety of environmental stewardship activities on the Sunshine Coast.

The Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve Society is a non-profit society and registered charity incorporated in April 2002 (Charitable #: 85237 7530 RR0001).  The Board of Directors and Committee members all volunteer their time and expertise to the Society.  We are also proud to employ a handful of skilled and talented people, and every summer we employ three or more university students through funding from the Canadian Government.

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.
